New Beginnings: Between Systems,Shifts, and Self

I didn’t want to begin with a résumé.

This was the very first post I wrote for this space.

And when I started it, I knew I didn’t want to begin with a résumé.

I wanted to begin with the truth.

After more than 20 years in technology, from typewriters to enterprise systems, code, automation, cross-country moves and constant reinvention, I realized that I didn’t want to just execute anymore.

I wanted to share.

Create.

Connect.

And write about the things that don’t fit in a ticket.

This space started as a way of opening the door to exchange experiences, think out loud and make room for ideas that don’t necessarily belong inside a project plan.

A lot has changed since then.

But that part hasn’t.

What I do today

My work has been rooted in enterprise technology for more than two decades.

SAP has been a big part of that journey since 2006, particularly HCM, SuccessFactors, integration and the wonderfully complicated world of Time Management.

Over time, my work and curiosity have expanded into cloud, automation, data and AI.

What interests me most isn’t technology for the sake of technology.

It’s understanding how things work, how they connect, why they break and how we can make them genuinely useful.

I’ve worked across countries, organizations and very different environments. Some projects required deep technical investigation. Others required translating between business and technology, navigating ambiguity or simply figuring things out when nobody had the complete picture.

That combination has shaped the way I work much more than any job title ever could.

What you’ll find here

I don’t want this space to be only about SAP.

And I don’t want it to be only about AI either.

Technology is part of my life, but it isn’t the whole story.

I want to write about enterprise systems and the strange problems they create.

About AI and what happens when the demo is over.

About projects, mistakes and things I’ve learned the hard way.

About career changes, curiosity and reinvention.

And sometimes about living abroad, learning languages, discovering places or whatever else happens to have one of my mental tabs open that week.

There will probably be some chaos.

That’s part of it.

Changing countries, shifting inside

Moving abroad taught me that technical knowledge is only part of the baggage we carry.

The rest is made of resilience, flexibility, longing, new languages, new seasons and the strange experience of starting over while knowing that you aren’t actually starting from zero.

You bring everything with you.

The experience.

The mistakes.

The confidence.

The doubts.

The person you were before.

And then you build again.

I’ve learned that reinvention doesn’t necessarily mean abandoning what came before.

Sometimes it means understanding what still belongs and making room for what comes next.

Who I am outside of work

Outside the world of enterprise systems, I’m someone who loves exploring new cities, cozy cafés and beautiful places where I can sit and observe life.

I play samba percussion.

I learn languages because I love the moment when another culture starts becoming slightly less foreign.

I travel.

I walk through forests.

I collect ideas.

And apparently I also collect browser tabs at an alarming rate.

Somewhere along the way, I realized that these things aren’t separate from the person who works with technology.

They’re part of how I think.

Curiosity is curiosity, whether I’m trying to understand a complicated system, a new language or a city I’ve never seen before.

What I’m learning in this phase

For a long time, I thought knowing more was always the answer.

Learn more.

Solve more.

Do more.

Be useful.

I’m learning that growth also requires something else.

Pausing.

Choosing.

Changing direction when something no longer makes sense.

Allowing curiosity to lead somewhere unexpected.

And understanding that after twenty years of experience, starting something new doesn’t erase what you already know.

It adds another layer to it.

Reinvention doesn’t mean starting from zero.

Maybe that’s what this space is really about.

Not becoming someone completely different.

Just continuing to become more of myself.
